Solid Core Wood Doors

Lead-lined doors are bolted to ensure strength and integrity. Bolt holes are lead filled and a 1/8" thick veneer is applied that results in an attractive yet strong door that meets continuous lead shielding requirements. All doors are custom made to your specifications, including fire code requirements.

Lead Lined Drywall

Drywall panels are factory laminated with a permanent resilient adhesive to un-pierced sheet lead and arranged to provide effective lead insulation through all joints

Panels are secured to wood studs, furring strips or metal stud with drywall screws covered with lead discs.

Lead laminated drywall panels are of specified thickness and installed in accordance with Radiation Engineering shop drawings.

Interlocking Lead Bricks

Standard Installation:

Place leaded side of drywall against studs.   Drill pilot homes for screws to prevent deformation of lead.  A minimum lead overlap of one inch is required at all joints and corners.  Extend lead overhang at least one inch into all frames or openings.  Fasten lead lined drywall to studs with screws placed eight inches on center.  Cover each screw that penetrates the leaded area with a lead disc.  Dimple leaded drywall and glue lead disc to screw head.  Install sheet lead over or behind all penetrations cuts, or punctures to ensure continuity of radiation shielding.

Drywalls can be taped, floated and finished as required.  Protect installed material from damage by other construction.  Have shielding tested by approved personnel.  Shielding must comply with all federal and state regulations.

Note: For lead thickness up to 5/64" (5#), a two inch lead overhang extends off one side of leaded drywall to serve as a batten strip.   If lead thickness exceeds 5/64" (5#). a two inch lead batten strip will be supplied for each piece of lead lined drywall.  Batten strips are required at all drywall joints.
